Pool Push for EGP

I saw this competition held by Experimental Gameplay
Project
in late January and I couldn´t resist taking part
since the finalists got their games shown in a swimmingpool
at Stattbad Wedding.

Therefore, I made Pool Push in a few days with my friend
and jazz musician, Povel Widestrand, who wrote the music.

The finalists are now up and Pool Push is one of them!
So if you´re in Berlin 17/02, be sure to join the party at
Stattbad Wedding!

It´s nothing to play without the Unita Zero pads though,
so don´t bother trying it if you´re not attending to the event.

What´s happening?

As you´ve probably mentioned, I haven´t wrote anything for some time now. And since there are reasons to all things, there is a reason for this case too. The thing is that I´m not working on any game right now. Nothing at all.

But.

Instead, I´ve been planning a whole lot of games for the mobile market (will only make the most promising ones of course) and also learned some Java. My goal now is, as you may have read in the interviews, to make money from making games. Therefore, I´ll (if everything goes as expected) start a game-making-company this early summer to go for it for real. I´ll keep you updated about my upcoming site, blog etc for my company from this blog.

Updatez

If you see any of my games being featured in a magazine, it would be awesome if you could tell me via krimelo@live.com. Such stuff is motivating!

I did an interview for http://quote-un-quote.tumblr.com/ which will be posted quite soon!

Also, Glaucoma is getting some sick highscores! http://www.gmhighscores.com/highscores.php?gameid=1186

Back to learn java!

Big project!

Yesterday, I started to plan a new project which by far will be my biggest one (not the crazy adventure game in the previous post). It will also be written in java which I started to learn some days ago. I can't tell much about the new project more than that it will differ significantly from my previous games. It will focus on multiplayer as it looks now. The game will take pretty long time to finish I presume, so I´m thinking about making another little blog just for the developement of the game.

It's a strategy one.

The Interview and Future Plans

Here's the interview I told you about in the post yesterday: Interview

I´ve also got plans for the future. I'm soon going to start working on a crazy adventure game filled with interesting characters and some moral decision making. And also, I'm going to start try to make some money by creating simple, addicting and fun Iphone/Android applications, but still not going too casual :P.

Exhibition and Inteview

As I mentioned when I released Glaucoma, I made it for The Experimental Gameplay compo's theme 'Neverending'. The truth been told, Glaucoma wasn't very neverending, but more an traditional arcade game. When Baby Castles announced the winners of the prize of being part of their exhibition, I wasn't very surprised that Glaucoma didn't win anything. What was a bit more surprising, and fun (!), was that they had an extra bonus game shown at the exhibition. And the extra game was selected from all the entries from all previous themes (probably a total of 250-400 entries), and the chosen game was my AutoCannibalism. Awesome! Hopefully they will take some pics from the exhibition in Manhattan!

A french gaming site called The Oujevipo made an interview with me today. Will post the interview when it gets published!

Siamese Enemies

So at last I finished Siamese Enemeies. The game has been pretty much finished for a couple of weeks now but there was some annoying bugs that had to be fixed.

2-Player ONLY!

Overview:
Your mother just want one baby.
You and your siamese brother must
therefore go to the hospital and
separate your bodies. On your way
to the hospital you will find
yellow shaking boxes in which there
are organs you can collect.

Depending on who collects the organ,
the organ will be on your side during
the operation. Your siamese brother
can steal your organ during the operation
but it's an advantage to collect the
organs since they appear on your side
of the screen (takes time for your
opponent to grab them).

The organs you insert will give you
different powers when racing back home
to your mother.

First home wins!

Press 'R' to restart level if you get stuck

Glaucoma

The Experimental Gameplay Project's September theme was 'Neverending' and you had seven days to make something for it if you wanted to. I made this game called Glaucoma (an eye disease) in less than two days but it ended up quite well anyway, in my opinion.

Here are the guidelines I tried to follow:

•1. Look interesting even when not being played. Attract players!

•2. Be instantly playable, understandable, intuitive. Assume your game will be left in any possible state, and must always be ready for one player to leave, and another player to pick up some time later.

•3. Avoid a title screen, or any menu system at all.

•4. Use sound, but don’t rely on it for gameplay.
